About Patchwork
Patchwork Community Craft seeks to cultivate a creative community in a warm and welcoming space with a focus on sustainability and empowerment. We offer classes and workshops in sewing and other fiber arts as well as a resource exchange center where both students and the public can donate and/or purchase both new and second-hand fabric and supplies.
How it started
Patchwork Community Craft was dreamed up in early 2022, but the seed from which it grew has been sitting dormant in my mind for many years. After nearly a decade of teaching at a variety of spaces around the greater Boston area, I decided it was time to open my own creative hub in my neighborhood. My goal is to introduce as many people as I can to the joy and empowerment that comes with having a creative practice.
What makes Patchwork unique is its commitment to community and sustainability. It is a space where people of all backgrounds, body types, genders, and abilities can express themselves through fashion and textile art. Classes are designed to encourage students to defy beauty standards and expectations, finding empowerment in creating clothing that fits both their body and their identity.
Patchwork's 'Slow Fashion' approach will give students the opportunity to not only find self empowerment, but to cultivate empathy for the many hands around the world that produce clothing. Through course offerings that focus on recycling and sustainability, students will have the opportunity to reduce waste in their community and do their part to protect our environment.

Erica is a homeschooling mom of two teenage boys. She loves traveling, nature, mixed-media art, and board games. She is a certified aromatherapist, a SoulCollage© Facilitator, and is working on a Creative Mindfulness for Children certification.
Alexandra Williams
She/Her
Instructor
Alexandra is an all-around maker of things and do-er of projects. She makes her living as an Executive Producer but remains dedicated to her artistic roots as a printmaker, bookbinder, herbalist and teacher. Her personal work explores our connection to the natural world through a collaborative immersive practice, and abstract representations of landscapes, visions and symbols.
Maggie Ruth Haaland

Maggie Ruth Haaland is a queer mender, natural dyer, herbalist, and foot bath devotee (who I also loves hot dogs). They came to all of these practices via the world of plants, and wanting to find more ways of incorporating their healing and magical properties into our everyday lives.
Taylor McVay

Owner / Instructor
Taylor is the owner and founder of Patchwork. They have been teaching sewing, design, and pattern making in New England for 15 years. Taylor is passionate about sustainable, ethical, and gender affirming fashion and loves repurposing materials to make clothes that make people feel empowered.

We are on the second floor in #201. There are two entrances. From the parking lot, enter door #6. From the street, enter door #1 to the left of the diner. Take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor and follow signs for Patchwork.
Public Transit Directions
We are a short walk from stops on the 72 and 73 bus and a 20 min walk from the Pawtucket/Central Falls stop on the MBTA Providence/ Stoughton line.

We currently do not have regular business hours. If you'd like to book an appointment for shopping, get in touch!
You can often catch somebody in the studio Mon, Tues, Thurs afternoon and Fri morning
Parking is available on site. Please park in the side parking lot only. The front lot is reserved for the diner.
