Coaxing Summer onto Cloth - Aug Only

August 18th

Class Description

This is the listing for booking a single session in the remaining Coaxing Summer Onto Cloth workshops! Join us for, "Coaxing Summer onto Cloth," where a cohort of textile enthusiasts and textile curious folks will explore various methods of capturing the beauty of summer and early fall on fabric. Throughout the workshop, you'll learn how to create stunning prints of flora, culminating in the creation of a unique quilt or wall hanging featuring prints from throughout the season. We'll visit a local farm, make a mini flower press, capture plant silhouettes using the sun, coax the color from plants by pounding and steaming, and combine all the results into a beautiful piece of textile art that captures the essence of this joyful season in New England. In August (Sunday August 18th 1-4pm) we'll use those pressed flowers and play with paper cutouts and written word to create cyanotypes (sun prints) that marry organic and geometric forms. No experience necessary. Workshop price includes all materials (pre-treated fabric for dyeing and cyanotypes, flower press materials, fresh blooms) and scholarships are available (please contact us via email for more info!)

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your booking, you'll need to do so 48 hours before the start of the first class session. After that, we will not be able to offer you a refund. We recommend finding a friend or acquaintance who'd like to take your place. If we are able to fill your spot we may be able to offer you a refund, though we cannot guarantee this.
